Wayfaring Stranger: Songs of Travel

People throw around the adage “Walk a mile in my shoes.”  But what does that really mean? Do we heed this wisdom?

In the program, Wayfaring Stranger, Ragazzi Continuo intends to find out. The choral repertoire around the world is steeped in songs about travel, motion, and journey. These can be literal, physical journeys, or perhaps a more spiritual, transcendental variety. This diverse set includes traditional American music, negro spirituals, Hungarian songs, lush Brahms songs, and baroque oratorio. These all pertain to a journey, and poise the listener to find out where they’re going, where they’ve come from, or perhaps just sit, relax, and listen to some moving music.
